President Droupadi Murmu Makes History with Rafale Sortie at Ambala
Becomes First Indian President to Fly in Both Sukhoi-30 MKI and Rafale Fighter Jets

Ambala: In a landmark moment for India’s defence history, President Droupadi Murmu, the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces, took a 30-minute sortie in a Rafale fighter jet at the Air Force Station Ambala today. With this, she became the first President of India to fly in both the Sukhoi-30 MKI and the Rafale, two of the Indian Air Force’s most advanced combat aircraft.

The historic sortie aboard the Rafale, flown by an experienced IAF pilot, showcased the professionalism, technological excellence, and operational readiness of the Indian Air Force (IAF). The President’s flight symbolises India’s growing airpower and supreme confidence in its defence capabilities.
During the sortie, the President witnessed the high manoeuvrability, combat readiness, and advanced avionics of the multirole fighter jet, which forms a crucial part of India’s frontline air defence.
The Rafale induction has significantly boosted the IAF’s operational strength, reinforcing India’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability through strength and preparedness.
