CM Mohan Majhi Performs Bhoomi Pujan for Odisha’s First Compound Semiconductor Manufacturing Facility at Info Valley

PNS Bureau: –Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi today performed the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for the Compound Semiconductor Manufacturing Facility under the SiCSEM Project at Info Valley, Bhubaneswar. The project marks a significant milestone in Odisha’s journey towards becoming a hub for high-end electronics manufacturing and advanced semiconductor technology.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the SiCSEM project will not only boost the Make in Odisha vision but also place the state prominently on India’s semiconductor map. He emphasized that this initiative will generate thousands of skilled and semi-skilled jobs while fostering research, innovation, and industrial growth in the state.

The Compound Semiconductor Manufacturing Facility, being set up under the SiCSEM initiative, is designed to produce silicon carbide-based power devices, which are critical for electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, and next-generation electronics. The facility is expected to attract global investment, strengthen the local ecosystem for electronics manufacturing, and support India’s mission of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) in the semiconductor sector.

(Background: The SiCSEM Project — Silicon Carbide Semiconductor Manufacturing — is a key part of India’s National Semiconductor Mission aimed at developing indigenous capabilities in chip manufacturing. Odisha’s Info Valley, already home to several IT and ESDM units, is being developed as an advanced electronics manufacturing cluster, aligning with the state’s goal to emerge as an electronics and semiconductor hub in eastern India.)(PNS)
