NCB Bhubaneswar Seizes 171 Kg Ganja After High-Speed Chase in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj District; One Trafficker Arrested

Bhubaneswar:- In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Bhubaneswar Zonal Unit apprehended one drug trafficker and seized 171 kilograms of Ganja from a Tata Curvv vehicle at Karanjia in Mayurbhanj District, Odisha, on October 29, 2025.
According to NCB officials, when the vehicle was intercepted, the accused broke through the security barricade and attempted to flee. A high-speed chase spanning 40–50 kilometers followed under heavy rain, leading the NCB team into the dense Karanjia forest region. The traffickers abandoned their vehicle and tried to escape on foot, but the NCB team pursued them for about 500 meters inside the forest and successfully apprehended one accused, recovering the vehicle loaded with the narcotic substance.
An investigation is underway to identify and trace other members of the trafficking network. Officials said the
operation highlights NCB’s continued efforts to dismantle organized drug syndicates operating across state borders.
Reaffirming its commitment to fight drug trafficking, the NCB urged citizens to report any information related to the sale or movement of narcotics by calling the MANAS – National Narcotics Helpline (Toll-Free No. 1933). The Bureau assured that the identity of informants will remain confidential.(PNS)
